BIO
As leading members, Anthony Ferretti and Lena Rush ultimately define the core of Mawrcrest. Originally from Portland Oregon, the two moved to Chicago to stretch their wings in it's vibrant music scene. Percussionist Colin Campbell joined Mawrcrest in June of 2010. Once the trio was completed, Mawrcrest exploded onto Chicago's music scene. Ferretti and Rush chose particular sounds for their debut recording, stemming from their influence by the classics in rock, surf, folk and country. Mawrcrest has embarked on a journey exploring new horizons in what defines an American band. What you will experience with this band is a century of popular music reinterpreted by the soul of a new generation, that is Mawrcrest.
Mawrcrest recorded as Whisker Music at The Sound of Music Studios in Richmond, Virginia. Working with Drummer/Producer Miguel Urbiztondo (of Maki and various Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven recordings) and with the skill of Engineer Alan Weatherhead (of Sparkle Horse, Hotel Lights and Maki; Engineer for Daniel Johnston along with various others), the debut was created and released in the Summer of 2009. |
